In 2013, I responded to an invitation to create content for the online magazine Long Division with the theme of gas stations. A friend and I had been talking about strange places people seek romance. Gas stations topped our list, maybe because of our lack of positive romantic encounters filling up our cars or buying Cokes. I started reading missed connections ads on Craigslist, and found that there are many people who see the potential for love, lust, and friendship at the pump. I mined my collection of photographs for station photos, pairing them up with missed connections posts.
